Q: How do I schedule an appointment?

A: You can schedule an appointment by calling me at 913-481-1968. Or you can contact Christian Psychological Services 913-345-0033 as well and ask for Adam Clement. In order to best fit therapy into your schedule, I prefer to speak over the phone about my availability.

Q: How can therapy help me?

A: Participating in therapy can have many benefits. Therapists can provide support, foster problem-solving and coping skills, encourage growth, and help to repair and mediate unhealthy relationships, to name a few. Therapy often offers fresh perspectives and insights into difficult or long term issues. The benefits therapy can yield depend on the willingness and effort put into the process. Therapy is taking a risk, but the rewards for doing so far outweigh the costs.

Q: How long does therapy take?

A: Length of therapy depends on the client. As a collaborative therapist, I intend to establish goals early on in the therapeutic process that my clients and I move toward. It is in the hands of the client to determine when they have met those goals or if there are other goals to consider. Termination of therapy is client-led rather than therapist-led.

Q: Do you see individual clients or just couples and families?

A: In addition to working with couples and families, I regularly work with individuals as well. If we initiate therapy as individual work, I also allow my clients to invite other important people in their lives they can be additional resources and support of the change we are working toward.

About Adam Clement

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in Kansas. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Personal Financial Planning from Kansas State University. I then attended Abilene Christian University where I received my Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy. I am trained and certified to counsel individuals, couples, and families.

I am passionate about working with married couples to foster healthy and supportive relationships. I believe that strengthening the marital relationship is vital in affecting positive change in a family’s mental health. I have also worked with children and teenagers as they struggle with life transitions and healthy relationships. As a systemically trained therapist, I believe that change is sustained with the support and understanding of the people closest to us.

In order to tailor therapy to my clients, I utilize an integrated approach of therapeutic models. I mostly work with Solution Focused Therapy (SFT), Emotionally-Focused Therapy (EFT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Gottman Method Couples’ Therapy.

I am currently practicing at Christian Psychological Services (CPS). CPS is a nondenominational, non-for-profit corporation made up of therapists, counselors, and psychologists dedicated to improving mental health in the Kansas City community.
